Congregation Highlight: Carmichael Presbyterian Church

Carmichael Presbyterian Church has a long history of active participation in mission and ministry locally and globally. They have a number of programs that serve the homeless and at-risk populations, including:

• Carmichael Food Closet – providing food for those in need. Call 916-483-9232 between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon to request food pickup for that day. Supper on Saturday - is held on the third Saturday of every month. Their guests include homeless people as well as people who live near our church in Carmichael and just want a hot meal shared with others.

• Shower Ministry – shower facilities are usually available during the week. During the Covid-19 restrictions, showers are available two Saturdays a month.

• Winter Shelter/Respite – working with Carmichael HART, they provide overnight shelter, hot meals, and showers during the winter season. During the COVID-19 pandemic they are providing a warm place to go for a hot breakfast, shower, and a sack lunch each Saturday through February.

• Emancipation Baskets - In May of each year, they support foster care youth by providing new household items given to those youth who have completed the Independent Living Program and are ready to move into independent housing.

Before Covid-19 Carmichael Presbyterian would host the families at the Sacramento Family Promise four times a year. Each family is provided a private room with bedding at the church, as well as common dinners provided by CPC volunteers. CPC also provides other loving volunteers who welcome the guests. The volunteers also provide some recreational activities, open hearts, and spend quality time with the families and their children.
