Congregation Highlight: Trinity Cathedral

Updated: 12 hours ago

Trinity Cathedral is an Episcopal community passionate about experiencing and sharing God’s transforming love. All are welcome. We are a reverent, yet progressive faith community located in Midtown Sacramento.

We are committed to social justice and serving the needs of the poor.

Trinity was among the founding organizations when Family Promise of Sacramento started in April 2005, and we continue to be a ‘host’ congregation. Last year St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church asked if they could partner with us, and we were delighted when they became our support church. One of our members, Kevin Donohue, served as Family Promise Board President for 7 years and has been dedicated to this program for more than 15 years mainly because he sees that it makes a difference in lives. It does make a difference, a significant difference. A comment from a Trinity member reflects our experience about participating in this program: ‘I was so grateful to be able to extend a helping hand to these struggling families in the process of getting back on their feet.’

We also participate in several programs including Midtown HART & Respite Center for the homeless every Friday morning at Trinity; partnering with UC Davis medical students, in which Trinity makes burrito bag lunches and the residents and interns distribute them at homeless camps to those who take health assessments in order to assist them in getting proper medications and programs needed for their conditions; adoption of Floyd Elementary School over 20 years ago to support school staff and help students and their families; participation in ACT in addition to other activities.
