Volunteer Spotlight: Mary

Mary has been involved with Family Promise of Sacramento for about 6 years. She is a member of the Carmichael Presbyterian congregation and became a volunteer when their congregation coordinator asked for her assistance. Mary had just retired and was looking for something useful to fill her time.

When COVID hit, and the job of the congregations changed, Mary continued working to better the lives of our families. She continues to lead her congregation in assisting and supporting families in the Tiny Homes and at the Salvation Army Housing units. Mary has stayed in contact with several families and built personal relationships with at least 3. She continues to check in with them and support them in physical, emotional, and spiritual ways.

Mary says that she is a person of faith and has been very blessed in her own life. She feels a responsibility to help others. She says that her evangelism is mostly action-based as opposed to verbal.

Mary is the newest member of the Family Promise Board of Directors. Thank you for your service, Mary.
