Congregation Beth Shalom was founded on the principle: Where Everyone is Family. Some 40 years later, the Beth Shalom family continues to create an atmosphere of love and friendship among all of its members. Home to the largest and most successful Jewish Food Faire in the region, our members go above and beyond to help make our corner of the world a better place for everyone. You will find Beth Shalom members involved in all types of community, cultural and civic activities throughout Sacramento. Helping those who need help the most, participating in organizations that engage the community to make people's lives better.

Congregation Beth Shalom is a thriving, inclusive, and spiritual reform temple in the heart of Sacramento. Located in Carmichael, our members come from near and far to be part of our active Jewish community. Our families, singles, seniors, teens and everything in between celebrate and share in our beautiful cycle of events.

"Our mission at Adventure Christian Church is to bring Jesus' hope to an imperfect world. We believe we are called to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, because every heart matters."

In 2003 just under a tent in North Natomas Adventure Christian Church was formed. The church has been leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, simply because every heart matters. With our mission in mind, Adventure Church was pleased to open its doors to Family Promise of Sacramento in 2019. Our volunteers are dedicated to serving and providing families a "home and food” for a week. A family of 5 would come in after Dad got off of work between 10 pm-11pm and our night volunteers were always there to help them out of the car, holding the door as one sleepy head after another was carried in. Plates of food were warmed for whoever was awake and hungry. For that week, we were committed to the same goal. The fellowship time consisted of movies, crafts and a makeshift piñata, though there were challenges, there were also so many more successes. The greatest gift we gave each other during that week was space for grace.

This past year and a half has been a really tough time for everyone and now more than ever it is clear that we are connected. Praying for a great service week this coming October and for the families that will find themselves as guests in our church. Thank you Family Promise for this opportunity to serve our community one family at a time. “Those who cannot serve give, those who could not give, pray for both the guests and volunteers. It has been truly a blessing to partner and serve with Family Promise. We look forward to hosting families again this Fall!"

Carmichael Presbyterian Church has a long history of active participation in mission and ministry locally and globally. They have a number of programs that serve the homeless and at-risk populations, including:

  • Carmichael Food Closet – providing food for those in need. Call 916-483-9232 between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon to request food pickup for that day. Supper on Saturday - is held on the third Saturday of every month. Their guests include homeless people as well as people who live near our church in Carmichael and just want a hot meal shared with others.

  • Shower Ministry – shower facilities are usually available during the week. During the Covid-19 restrictions, showers are available two Saturdays a month.

  • Winter Shelter/Respite – working with Carmichael HART, they provide overnight shelter, hot meals, and showers during the winter season. During the COVID-19 pandemic they are providing a warm place to go for a hot breakfast, shower, and a sack lunch each Saturday through February.

  • Emancipation Baskets - In May of each year, they support foster care youth by providing new household items given to those youth who have completed the Independent Living Program and are ready to move into independent housing.

Before Covid-19 Carmichael Presbyterian would host the families at the Sacramento Family Promise four times a year. Each family is provided a private room with bedding at the church, as well as common dinners provided by CPC volunteers. CPC also provides other loving volunteers who welcome the guests. The volunteers also provide some recreational activities, open hearts, and spend quality time with the families and their children.
